Most people think that the glamorous world of office supply sales is all fun and games, a dream career booming with limousines, private jets and supermodels. As a Senior Account Manager at OneStop, the most prestigious of all office supply companies in the world, I should say that it’s all that and more. There is some actual work involved in what I do, for example, just the other day I had to clean my desk because there was a crew of workers recoating my penthouse office with 24 karat gold paint.
I wasn’t always a self-made multi-trillionaire. As the middle child out of three boys I’ve become all too familiar with hand-me-downs, but I never thought that careers were included in that tradition. For many years my older brother Dave had been telling me about his job at OneStop. He shared several stories about Marx Acosta-Rubio, the CEO, and what an inspiration he is to work for, so as you can see I was eventually sold. Before working at OneStop I was managing a photography studio up in Portland, Oregon. With 10 years experience as a family photographer, I never thought I would be working as a supply broker. Before I knew it, I had moved down to California from Oregon and I started working along side my brother and an eclectic group of top-notch salespeople.
My brother has since left to follow his lifelong dream of being a rock star, but the core of OneStop has remained the same. We are a culture based on high accountability, integrity and personal growth. Since I have been here I went from being the longhaired hippie type to a settled down family man. I am now married to my lovely and brilliant wife Gina and we have a bright young boy, Avery Jude.
My favorite part of my job is certainly the great relationships I have made over the years with my amazing clients and coworkers, and I hope that many of these connections will become life long friendships.
